Restorative Yoga is a receptive passive practice rather than an active practice.
During a restorative yoga class the body is placed into positions gently supported by bolsters, pillows, blankets and blocks and held for 10-15 minutes.
These positions emulate the forms of some more active asana (poses) such as back bend, forward bend, twists or inversions which when held for extended periods of time open and release tension from the body, increase flexibility, calm the mind and soothe the heart.
Restorative Yoga is a deeply nurturing practice that offers a chance for both the body and mind to find balance and ease, perfect for those looking for some respite from busy lives, stress, or recovering from illness
