“Be in control of your body and not at it’s mercy” – Joseph Pilates
Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates, as rehabilitation in the First World War, but it’s popularity now spans the globe. It is a low impact workout with a focus on flexibility, muscular strength, and endurance, making it the perfect workout for every body, from beginners to advanced.
Throughout this five week Mat Pilates course with Bonita, we will work on developing core strength and balanced postural alignment with controlled flowing movements, using breath to centre the mind. Overall strength and conditioning of the deep core muscles not only produces a strong abdomen and obliques, but also the powerful stabilising muscles in the mid back, lower back, spine, chest and glutes.
