Yoga for adults with autism, with Belinda Jarman and Emma Miley
25 February 2019 at 1:00 am - 3:00 am

Belinda has autism, and was inspired by her own experiences at school to contribute to the research in this area. For her Master’s thesis, she investigated the school experiences of females with Asperger syndrome, and for her PhD she is exploring the social and emotional well-being of females with high functioning autism. Belinda has been practicing yoga for several years, the majority under the guidance of Emma. She also completed her Rainbow Kids Yoga Training, taught by Emma, in 2017, and it was one of the most amazing experiences of her life, and she felt really connected to the other women in the room, something she doesn’t often experience. Belinda enjoys the non-competitive and non-judgmental nature of yoga, and appreciates that there is always something new to learn and work on, and that there is no end goal. Belinda battles severe anxiety and depression, so she appreciates attending our workshop may be challenging for some people, but wants to assure everyone that it will be a supportive, nurturing and fun environment.
Emma has been teaching yoga to a variety of ages and abilities for nearly 10years. Her teaching is caring, heartfelt and relaxed, yet playful and caters to the individual. Emma’s intention is to encourage everybody to feel comfortable in their own skin.
Emma has been inspired by Belinda, how far she has come through yoga and what she has to offer from her research thus far as well as her own yoga journey.
